We carefully select natural Bodhi leaves and, through dozens of meticulous processes, remove the leaf tissue, leaving only the translucent and resilient framework of the veins (in Chinese culture, the Bodhi leaf symbolizes “enlightenment, peace, and good fortune,” and is a sacred object that carries blessings). With meticulous precision, our artists hand-paint lively creatures such as grasshoppers, summer cicadas, and dragonflies onto the leaf veins, which are as thin as a cicada’s wing: the grasshopper signifies “steady advancement and family harmony,” the summer cicada symbolizes “making a striking debut and longevity with good health,” while the dragonfly represents “graceful poise and a life of smooth sailing.”
