“Donating a Painting of a Bodhisattva to Faxing Temple”
Her life is a lotus blossoming from adversity. Having lost her father at a young age and growing up in poverty, the burdens of life once forced her to interrupt her studies, yet they never crushed the paintbrush in her hand. At the lowest point of her journey, she used ink as light and painting as a vessel; through her unwavering pursuit of beauty, she transformed from a struggling young girl into a renowned artist.
Today, she is a member of the Shandong Artists Association, a teacher who imparts beauty in the classroom, and a practitioner who embodies compassion through her brush. When she donated the meticulously painted portrait of the Bodhisattva to the temple without seeking any compensation, art transcended technique to become a bridge connecting the secular world with faith.
On the morning of February 3, 2026, after a month of creation, the artist Runhe finally completed the Bodhisattva portrait she had donated to the temple. She successfully presented it to the temple’s abbot, and a solemn consecration ceremony was held. The photo shows the abbot holding a cinnabar brush to “dot the eyes” of the Bodhisattva image—a moment of profound sacredness in Buddhism. This single stroke not only imbues the portrait with life and spirituality but also symbolizes the awakening of compassion and wisdom. It signifies that the Bodhisattva will observe the world with discerning eyes and protect all sentient beings; it also implies that the artist’s brushwork and faith merge in this moment, allowing art to become a vessel for conveying benevolent intentions.
